The Big Give Christmas Challenge begins at 12pm on Tuesday 29th November and ends at 12pm on Tuesday 6th December. Please head HERE to donate.
The Big Give is the UK’s biggest online match-funding campaign. Next week, as part of The Big Give Christmas Challenge, Cast is asking audiences – and the wider Doncaster community – to raise £5k across one week, starting on 29th November, to support our work to improve engagement with Deaf communities. Any money you donate to support this vital work will be doubled. One donation, twice the impact for the causes you care about!
Doncaster has the largest Deaf population outside of London, and Cast, a registered charity, is aiming to programme more work that is accessible, through captioning and/or BSL interpretation. It is also our ambition to employ more d/Deaf artists and to offer a greater variety of activities for young Deaf people.
To kickstart the initiative ORB Recruitment, which is based in Balby Carr, has pledged to match every penny donated up to £2.5k, joining the Candis Club, which is doing the same; meaning that up to £5k of donations in total will be matched!
Cast’s Director, Deborah Rees, said: “We’re absolutely committed to improving the quality of our work with and for Deaf communities across Doncaster. We’re so pleased and grateful to be able to partner with ORB Recruitment to support us, and the general public, with The Big Give to continue opening up opportunities, particularly for young Deaf people. We hope your support will help us strive to be sector leaders in this area.”
Stewart Olsen, Group CEO at ORB Recruitment, said: “As a local business we are always looking for ways to support the community we are part of, particularly around Christmas. We’re already big admirers of Cast and all the work they do in Doncaster, but this campaign to further engage with the Deaf community, and make everything Cast does as accessible as possible, really struck a chord with our team. We’re thrilled to be involved and to pledge £2.5k, which we hope will encourage others to give what they can to help this important campaign.”
