Lampadophores

Global Streets are a national network of partners that co-creates and presents free international outdoor arts events. In recent years they have brought incredible outdoor performances to Doncaster, such as Sharing the Light (2022), Rise (2019) and Clash of Drums (2016). This year's event was Lampadophores (pronounced “lamp-ah-doh-for”), brought all the way from France.  

Named after the torchbearers in ceremonies of ancient Greece, Lampadophores was an exciting, interactive production by Picto Facto, a street theatre company based in Toulouse. Eight giant, inflatable puppets accompanied by black-and-white -clad performers led a procession around the streets of Doncaster followed by a crowd of one thousand local people, stopping to dance and interact with the crowds as they went.
