An island. A warehouse. An overseer.

Written by Tajinder Singh Hayer and directed by Madeleine O’Reilly, The Cyclops is the second episode in an epic retelling of the adventures of Odysseus and their journey home after the Trojan War.

Adapted through workshops with Doncaster communities, the cave of the Cyclops has become a vast warehouse, its owner a Big Brother-like overseer. Tensions rise between Odysseus and their crewmates when they find themselves trapped in the endless aisles of the Cyclops' lair, where they all must join forces to protect one another...

Marking the fifth anniversary of the National Theatre's Public Acts programme, The Odyssey will be told in five parts by hundreds of community members across England in spring 2023, with the final episode at the National Theatre in August 2023. The Cyclops is being shared in Doncaster as part of Cast’s tenth birthday year.
