Sharing the Light

Sharing the Light

Outdoor Event

Fri 28 October

7.00PM

DUNDU is an illuminated large-scale puppet that has enthralled spectators worldwide!

Though large in size, he is a gentle creature that glides between audience members with ease and grace, tickling faces and chins along the way.

German puppetry specialists DUNDU - through years of stellar craftsmanship, original live music, and finely-tuned puppeteering - brings a visual, interactive, mobile experience to the public. It is hard to describe the captivating nature of this glowing figure, but when we see someone's eyes light up, we know he have achieved our goal: to instil a simple sense of wonder and togetherness in adults and children.

The only thing larger than this giant is his heart.

We've listed below many of the questions that we get asked and we will try to update as we get more info. Have a read, and if your query isn't answered, please email hello@castindoncaster.com

Where will the performance be taking place?
Sharing the Light will be outdoors starting and ending on Sir Nigel Gresley Square, outside Cast. There will be a procession through the streets surrounding Cast. We will send a map of the route via email to everyone who has signed up for information once it has been finalised.

What about the weather?
We will not abandon the event unless in cases of extreme bad weather such as high winds. Once underway a performance will continue even if it does begin to rain, and the company will make every effort to complete the performance.

How long does it last?
The performance starts at 7pm and should last around 1hr 15mins in total.

What’s the age suitability?
Sharing the Light is suitable for all ages. However, we would ask you to consider whether your children will be comfortable with smoke, loud music and large crowds of people.

Are there flashing lights?
There will be no flashing lights but the puppets will be lit up.

What about those with access or additional needs?
There will be a viewing area on Sir Nigel Gresley Square for a limited number of wheelchairs. There will be a ‘Safe Space’ inside of Cast open for those with additional needs, which is a sensory environment, not as loud and low lighting levels.

Where can we park? Will any roads be closed?
We recommend parking in the Civic Quarter Car Park or Chamber Road Car Park. There will be rolling road closures along the route.

Is seating provided?
No, there will be no seating. This is an outdoor performance and you may move with the action. Please wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather.

Are there toilets
Cast will be open as usual for use of its normal public facilities however there won't be toilets along the prepossession route.

Are dogs allowed?
We regret that only Guide Dogs are allowed to attend the performances. Please be aware there may be effects and amplified music in the production and large crowds of people attending the event.
