Join Ensemble 360 for an evening of sumptuous string music including Schubert’s String Trio in B flat D471, Debussy’s String Quartet and the sparkling Dvorak String Quintet in G Op.77.
South Yorkshire’s resident chamber ensemble return to Cast to perform one of the most entrancing movements in the whole of Dvořák’s chamber music creation. Originally composed for a competition in Prague – it won first prize! – Dvořák made frequent changes to this wonderful Quintet before settling on his final version.
Schubert's sunny and assured String Trio sounds almost like a tribute to the composer's great forebears Haydn and Mozart, and probably to Salieri too, with whom Schubert was studying at the time he wrote it.
For contrast, Debussy’s innovative String Quartet overflows with suave Gallic charm and was later to influence Ravel when he wrote his String Quartet.
