Sleeping Beauty: Open Call Auditions for Young Ensemble

Tuesday 22, Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 September 2015 (Open Auditions)
Monday 5 October 2015 (Closed Audition for Shortlisted Dancers)

Cast are looking for Junior Dancers to perform in this year’s pantomime: Sleeping Beauty.

Once upon a time, in the far off land of Dozecaster wicked Fairy Nightshade puts an evil curse on Princess Rose, but Fairy Flora, with a wave of her wand, changes the spell…

After last year’s smash-hit success, our latest Christmas treat will have a huge dose of magic and sparkle. Live music, beautiful costumes and classic panto comedy combine in this refreshing take on a fairytale favourite.

To take part in Sleeping Beauty you will need to be aged 8 to 16 and be a strong dancer.  We are looking for 18 dancers in total and anyone can attend the open call.  To attend an audition, click here and complete a simple registration form (see below for mobile link).  There are a choice of three evening open auditions.  Within one week of registering, we will send an email confirming your time, and an availability form for you to complete.

Following the open auditions, shortlisted performers will then be invited to the closed audition on Monday 5 October 2015.

Please wear comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes for your audition.  No make up necessary.

Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian on the day and they will be required to complete documents.

School age performers will be required to obtain performance licenses.  All successful dancers must be available on all dates for production week (Monday 30 November – Thursday 3 December), performances (Thursday 4 December 2014 to Sunday 3 January 2015); and all rehearsals (to be confirmed).

Hi my daughter would like to audition but if she has a recal we dont get back from paris until very late on the 5th as they are performing at disney land, could anything be arranged or would it be compulsory, thats if she got a recal.

Hello - Unfortunately, the date of 5th October is the only available date for recalls, and we can't see people after this. Hope the performance at Disneyland goes well - all sounds very exciting! Best wishes Graham

My 8 year old daughter would love the opportunity to try for this. She will be 9 in December. She currently dance 5 times a week, covering Ballet, RAD Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and core strength/stretching classes. She attends a vocal academy once a week also. She has also successfully audition for the Yorkshire Ballet Centre which begins in September. The dates do not clash with any of the performances listed. however Grace will be performing at Disneyland Paris on the call backs 5th October. if she is called back would this be an issue?. I would still like her to do the open call stage. Many Thanks Mrs. Miernik

Hello - Applicants will perform in one third of all performances (there are three teams) - but they will need to be available on all days as the schedule will be set later on. Thanks Graham

Hi Clare - We'll be looking at two evenings + Saturday daytime; or three evenings - but these are yet to be confirmed. Best wishes, Graham

thank you for your prompt reply, however having checked the performance times on the CAST website, the times clash with her own dance acadamy performances so wouldn't be available for the second weekend and it is clear all chosen dancers need to be available for all dates. Regards Clare

What a shame! Its highly likely that all auditionees will be required for at least part of that weekend. Best wishes with the dance show though. Graham
