Be part of Cast's community ensemble for our homegrown production of Dancehall.
As part of Right Up Our Street, and following the success of two home-grown productions, Kes and The Glee Club, Cast is creating an exciting new production called Dancehall for September 2015.
Dancehall is going to be made with a unique ensemble, which will once again bring together a company of professional and community performers. Click here to find out more about the production.
Are you passionate about dancing, and would you like to be part of this new production?
Dancehall is the story of Doncaster from the dance floor:
“First dances at the Co-op Ballroom through to smooches at Top Rank. Boys on one side of the tracks meet girls from the other at Romeo and Juliet’s, whilst The Beatles play St James’s baths, the Sex Pistols storm Outlook and Bowie rocks Silver Street. Broken heels at Seventh Heaven to broken hearts at Parklands…”
“Utterly brilliant. To get spotted in a show which has taught me so much is an achievement I certainly wasn’t expecting”
Michael | community ensemble member in Kes
This is an open call to all those over the age of 16 who have enthusiasm and some basic experience in dance. You might be interested ballet or hip hop, in tea dancing or tap – as long as you have a basic level of ability, and have the confidence and skill to learn some new steps, we want to hear from you.
To be selected to be part of the company, you will need to be available for rehearsals throughout August and for the performances that will run from Friday 11 to Saturday 19 September 2015.
We will be holding an informal workshop for anyone who’s interested in taking part at Cast on Thursday 16 July 2015 at 6.30pm - 7.30pm. At this session you will have a chance to meet the directors, get more information about the production and participate in a fun and accessible workshop.
We look forward to meeting you!
