In this new blog series, we’re going behind the scenes at Cast to meet the people that work in the building and help make Cast a success.
This week we’ve met up with Adam Hogarty, Cast’s Box Office Manager, to talk about what it’s like working here, his favourite places in Doncaster and what he is really looking forward to seeing this season.
What’s your day-to-day like as Box Office Manager?
My role is all about ensuring customers get the product they want whilst making sure we give them amazing service. We like to be able to have a chat with the customers and make sure they know exactly what’s happening at Cast as well as getting to know them better as people.
The box office team is myself, and 5 box office assistants who all work extremely hard in being the face and voice of Cast. Another part of my role is talking to the companies who are bringing their performances to Cast, letting them know how well their shows are selling and ensuring they have the tickets they need to be able to host their own guests.
We speak to schools and make sure the children of Doncaster and the surrounding area get to come and enjoy the magic of theatre, inspiring and nurturing their creativity!
What’s the best thing about working at Cast?
No two days are the same, and I get to speak to lots of different people. We are lucky enough here to work at a venue where lots of people want to come to enjoy themselves and create memories with their friends and family.
What’s your favourite place in Doncaster?
Yorkshire Wildlife Park is a brilliant day out for the big kid in all of us. Or there is a brilliant Ice cream parlour in Hatfield that has 40 different ice cream flavours… (my favourite is banana!)
What are you looking forward to in the new Autumn season?
I am excited for Don’t Wake the Damp, Police Cops and Am I Dead yet - the comedy theatre in the Second Space this season will be amazing. In the Main Space, everyone should see French Without Tears – it was incredible when I saw in London.
