The Great Big Get Together happened over weekend inspired by the late MP Jo Cox. Attended by local MP Rosie Winterton, many families enjoyed the glorious weather and celebrated kindness, respect, and all that we have in common, all with wonderful activities and a picnic!

The Great Big Get together is inspired by Jo Cox and is aimed at bringing communities together and celebrate all that unites us. As Jo said in her first speech to parliament “We are far more united and far more in common than that which divides us’.

The event in Doncaster saw local community groups and businesses combine forces for a truly wonderful day at Sir Nigel Gresley Square, with the event having been organised by both Cast and DARTs. Nicola Doyle, the Audience Engagement Officer at Cast said “We are thrilled to have worked alongside darts to be able to celebrate the rich diversity of the town, and it was wonderful to see so many children and families enjoy spending time together and experiencing something new”.

There was so much for families to enjoy, including a bouncy castle, face painting, henna painting, outdoor games, arts and crafts, dancers and circus performers. The event was also attended by local MP Rosie Winterton.

An incredible event to see families from all across Doncaster come together to share music, arts and a good old-fashioned summer picnic, whilst supporting an important message. All with glorious weather too.
