CAST THEATRE COMMISSIONS INDEPENDENT DONCASTER ARTIST TO PRODUCE WEB SERIES

Cast today announces an exciting new commission for the theatre; an online web series produced in collaboration with Urban Conceptz, an independent company, led by Ryan Harston, a Cast Associate Artist.

The web series will be filmed locally with a cast and creative crew made up of South Yorkshire based actors and creatives. Titled ‘Separation’, it will be a multi-layered, interactive, choice-based episodic series, made specifically to be viewed online.

Cast has been closed for live performance for a number of months, briefly opening in autumn 2020 before the second lockdown.  In response to this extended closure, Cast has started to increase its digital programme, hosting live streams and working with artists to provide a platform for their work online.  The new commission from Urban Conceptz takes this work a step further, breaking new territory in its concept as a web series of digital theatrical storytelling.

Deborah Rees, Cast Executive Director says:

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Urban Conceptz on this original piece of digital theatre, filmed in locations round Doncaster. As an artist Ryan is a brilliant storyteller, creating work with a strong connection to place whilst drawing on universal themes. Working in this episodic format is brand-new for Cast and we’re delighted to be collaborating with Ryan to produce this series right here in Doncaster to be shared with the world.”

Ryan David Harston of Urban Conceptz says:

"This is an incredible opportunity that has been presented to me, and I’m working hard with many collaborators to make this something special. This mini-series will unearth a brand-new way of working for me as I’ve never created anything like this before. I have high ambitions and already have plans about how I can upscale this work for national and international audiences. Watch this space.’
